Despite the trauma of her past—being adopted from an Indigenous foster home, surviving abuse, overcoming addiction, and facing deep personal loss—she has learned that these experiences do not define her. Instead, they have driven her to create meaningful change, build successful businesses, and mentor others. By focusing on helping and uplifting those around her, Monica has discovered that her own struggles diminish when she shifts her attention outward. Her story is a testament to the power of resilience and the profound impact of turning personal pain into action and hope.
Monica is a speaker, writer, coach, and entrepreneur whose memoir, Practically Still a Virgin, chronicles her turbulent upbringing from being adopted from Canada to a dysfunctional life in Alaska. After facing significant challenges, including teenage pregnancy and being separated from her daughter, Monica channeled her experiences into building successful businesses, including a skincare line and a natural body care company. With over twenty years in advertising and marketing, she now resides in Northern California, where she enjoys time with her family, including her biological relatives in Canada and the daughter she reunited with after eighteen years.
