2021 Scholarship Awards
Soroptimist International of Sacramento awards scholarships to women currently attending college or university to further their education. On April 16, 2021, six deserving women will be presented scholarship awards totaling $28,000. These awards are generously funded by the Thora and Eugene Chin Scholarship, Claire O’Brien Scholarship, and Millie Stone Scholarship.
The six women attend UC Davis, McGeorge School of Law, California Northstate University, Samuel Merritt University (Nursing), Sacramento State University, and Howard University. Their clearly defined career goals will most certainly serve their communities after graduation. Education is the pathway to economically empowering women and girls, and these scholarships will make that path a bit easier.
Live Your Dream Awards Presentation 2021
We will also present our Live Your Dream Awards, a signature Soroptimist educational awards program, to three local college students from Sacramento City College, Sierra College, and Sacramento State University. With awards totaling $6,000, our financial support provides our awardees with the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects while supporting their families as well.
These awards are the culmination of our collective fundraising efforts to support the Soroptimist mission of empowering women and girls. Every year, Soroptimist distributes more than $2.8 million in education grants to about 1,700 women worldwide.
We welcome guests and look forward to celebrating these remarkable women overcoming obstacles and striving to attain their educational and professional goals. Please join us as we applaud and celebrate these amazing young women.
Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.
